Licensed clinical psychologist with more than 25 years alongside the autism community, in New York and now in Tennessee.
I earned my doctorate in psychology from Stony Brook University in 2002 and have spent the years since working with children and adults on the autism spectrum, across schools, clinics, and private practice settings. That work started in New York, where I spent twelve years before relocating to Tennessee in 2007 with my husband and sons.
What hasn't changed across all those settings is the starting point: listen first, assess carefully, and build a plan around the person in front of me — not a template. Many of the people I work with are managing anxiety, depression, or ADHD alongside being autistic, navigating a learning difference, or simply wanting space to be understood without having to perform neurotypical. My approach blends acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing with a strength-based, culturally responsive lens — including LGBTQ+ affirming care and, for families navigating ADHD, tools drawn from Supporting Teens' Autonomy Daily (STAND), an evidence-based parent-teen program.
Outside the office, you'll usually find me outdoors — gardening or on a trail. It's part of why walk & talk sessions are one of my favorite ways to meet with clients.
Autism is the throughline, but rarely the whole picture — most people I see are navigating more than one of these at once.
The core of my practice: diagnosis, self-understanding, and support at every age, including late-diagnosed adults.
Evaluation and treatment, including STAND-informed parent-teen work for families building autonomy and follow-through together.
Often alongside autism or ADHD, treated with acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive behavioral techniques.
Testing and support for the way a person actually learns and processes, not a one-size-fits-all standard.
A practice where sexual orientation and gender identity are met with respect, not explanation required.
Motivational interviewing and culturally responsive care that starts with what's working, not just what isn't.
